Information: The Democratic Republic of Congo, also known as Congo Kinshasa and Congo, is a Central African country, named Zaire between 1971 and 1997. It is a former Belgian colony: the Belgian Congo. Its capital is Kinshasa. The Democratic Republic of Congo has the largest part of the Congo river basin, which stretches on more than a million square kilometers. The country's only way to the sea is a thin part of land on the North bank of the river (region of Moanda in the Low-Congo).
