Information: Qatar is an Emirate located in the Middle East, situated on a small peninsula surrounded by Saudi Arabia to the south and Persian Gulf to the north. The Qatar peninsula goes 160 kilometres deep into the Persian Gulf. The major part of the country consists of an arid plain covered with sand. The spectacular Khor Al Adaid or « inner sea » is located to the south east. The highest point of Qatar is located in the Jebel Dukhan and reaches 90 m. Qatar is a important oil producer and is member of the OPEC.
